About the Design
Meant to be in your family, forever!
It was important to us to have high quality, hand made pieces of jewelry that we would be proud to own ourselves as well as to give as gifts to our family and friends. That is why we created the Forever Family collection.
Echoing elements of traditional Asian design our jewelry features simple lines and a symmetrical layout. The Chinese characters known as hanzi translate to "forever family" a term used throughout the adoption community to emphasizes the permanence of family.
These pieces have been designed to be timeless, modern and very flexible, able to be worn with almost any style and suitable for nearly every occasion. In fact the clean and modern sensibility of these pieces have attracted people without adopted children of their own. Many people purchase them simply because they enjoy the quality, design and Asian aesthetic our pieces provide.
For the sake of authenticity we sought out a Chinese American craftsman to artfully draw the characters used to design the pieces. The fluid, highly polished Chinese characters are off-set by a rough, oxidized (blackened) recessed background. This combination shows respect for the naturalness of the material while honoring and highlighting the talent of the artisans who crafted this pendant.
The wax model and metal work were created by a London trained, Chicago based jeweler. The pendants are made using the ancient process of lost wax casting. They are cast in Chicago while the chains come from an east coast manufacturer-the entire collection is made in America.
